My Story
1995
Volunteering at Queen of the Valley Hospital — Napa, CA
I started as a volunteer in IT at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa. Within a couple of months, they liked what they saw enough to create a full-time position for me. I became the go-to guy for NetWare and Microsoft issues.
1996–2002
Ryno Technology — Benicia, CA
I took a position with Ryno Technology, an IT integrator in Benicia. For about six years I planned and implemented Novell and Windows server deployments for businesses all over the Bay Area. Along the way I earned my Novell CNE and Microsoft MCSE certifications.
2002
Ryno Technology is acquired — AlphaDog IT is born
Ryno Technology was doing well enough that a larger company acquired it. That was my cue to break away and start my own shop: AlphaDog IT, in the Bay Area.
2003
Expanding AlphaDog IT to Reno, NV
My wife and I bought a house in Reno and I expanded AlphaDog IT into northern Nevada.
2004
Selling the Bay Area book of business
I sold the Bay Area side of AlphaDog IT to another startup IT company and put my full focus into growing the business in Reno.
2004–2016
Twelve years running AlphaDog IT in Reno
I ran AlphaDog IT in Reno for about twelve years, building a real local client base.
2016
Selling AlphaDog IT — a move to Georgia
Our daughter, stationed in Georgia, was expecting our first two grandkids. I sold AlphaDog IT to Avier Technology in Reno and we moved to Georgia, where I took a job as IT Director for a medium-sized construction company.
2019
On to Colorado
The kids were transferred to Colorado, so we packed up and followed. I took a job helping a local MSP support their customers.
2022
Back to Nevada — this time, the south
After about three years in Colorado, the kids were transferred to Alaska. We decided it was time to move back to Nevada — southern Nevada this time. I still support the MSP in Colorado and a few remaining clients in California.
Today
Building Vegas IT Pro
Now I'm putting down roots in Las Vegas and building Vegas IT Pro to support local small businesses directly — the same way I've done it since 1995.
